Beginner Guide
1. Game Overview
Roblox Murder Mystery 2 (MM2) is a social deduction game created by Nikilis. Players are randomly assigned one of three roles each round — Innocent, Sheriff, or Murderer — and must fulfill their role's objective before the round timer expires.
MM2 is one of Roblox's most-played games, especially popular during holiday events. It features a large, active trading economy built around cosmetic weapon skins of various rarities.
2. The Three Roles
Innocent — The "Stay Alive" Role
Starts with no weapon.
Goal: survive, run from the Murderer, and collect coins.
If the Sheriff is killed, any Innocent can pick up the dropped gun to take down the Murderer.
Best role for beginners: teaches map layouts, coin routes, and how rounds flow.
Innocent rounds give the most steady XP because survival time is rewarded.
Sheriff — The "Protector" Role
The only player who starts with a gun.
Goal: identify and eliminate the Murderer before all Innocents are killed.
Critical rule: Shooting an Innocent results in the Sheriff's immediate death.
Best for players who have already learned map behavior as Innocent.
Murderer — The "Hunter" Role
The only player equipped with a knife.
Goal: eliminate every other player before the round timer runs out.
Can throw the knife (press E on PC or the tap button on mobile).
More challenging role; beginners should play slowly until they know the maps.
Special/Secret Roles
Not present in the base game.
The game sometimes releases seasonal modes with extra mechanics.
3. Core Gameplay Mechanics
Round Flow
Roles are assigned randomly at the start of each round.
The round ends when the Murderer eliminates everyone, when the Murderer is killed, or when the timer runs out.
If the Sheriff dies, their gun drops on the ground for any Innocent to pick up.
Controls
PC: E to throw knife; gun aiming uses standard Roblox camera controls.
Mobile: tap button to throw knife.
Third-person camera: helps see around corners (useful for all roles).
First-person camera: better for precise aiming (especially as Sheriff).
Shift lock: recommended for improved aim and movement control.
Coin System
Coins spawn all over the map during every round.
Free players can collect up to 40 coins per round.
Elite Gamepass holders can collect up to 50 coins per round.
Coins only spawn while players are actively moving; AFK farming does not work.
Private servers do not spawn coins — only public lobbies do.
Coins are used to purchase weapon boxes, effects, and pets.
XP & Progression
XP is gained every round for surviving, killing, saving Innocents, etc.
Ranks increase over the long term through XP accumulation.
Innocent role gives the most XP because players survive longer and collect more coins.
Playing consistently is the main way to level up — MM2 rewards time spent.

FAQ
1. Frequently Asked Questions
What if I get Murderer too early (before I know the map)?
Take your time. Move naturally. Watch how other players behave. You do not need to rush kills — patience is the best strategy.
Should I focus on winning or learning as a beginner?
Learning first. Wins come naturally once you understand player patterns and map layouts.
Is map knowledge really important?
Yes — it is considered the biggest skill advantage in MM2.
Which role gives the most XP?
Innocent, surprisingly. Longer survival = more coins collected = more "survive time XP."
Which role is best for beginners?
Innocent. You learn maps, player behavior, coin routes, and round flow without direct pressure.
Should I watch others or just play?
Both. Watching teaches strategy and positioning; playing builds instinct and reaction speed.
Does platform affect gameplay significantly?
PC is most efficient for aim and movement, but all platforms work fine for learning the game.
Are AFK methods viable for coin farming?
No. Coins only spawn while actively moving, and AFK players are kicked from servers.
What should I do if I feel pressured in a trade?
Walk away. If someone is rushing you, that is a red flag. No item is worth a bad deal.
When are codes released?
Rarely, and usually tied to Christmas updates, Halloween events, anniversary patches, or creator partnerships.
Progression Guide
1. Progression & Improvement Tracking
Track personal improvement by monitoring:
Survival time per session
Kill accuracy as Murderer
Wrong-shot mistakes as Sheriff
How accurately you predict suspicious player behavior
General Improvement Advice
Focus on learning before winning — wins come naturally as you read players better.
Map knowledge is the single biggest advantage in MM2.
Watching others teaches strategy; playing builds instinct. Do both.
Don't stress about getting the rarest items immediately — real progression comes from trading and consistent play.
Most experienced players grind for a long time before landing a high-value Godly.
Settings Guide
1. Settings & Performance Tips
Shift lock — turn on for better aim and movement precision.
Graphics — set to Low on devices that lag; it has no impact on gameplay quality.
Sensitivity — adjust until aiming feels comfortable and consistent.
Third-person vs. first-person — use both depending on role; third-person for corner-peeking and awareness, first-person for precise shots.
Platform: PC is the most efficient for farming and aim; mobile and console are viable but slower.
Strategies Guide
1. Strategies & Tips
As an Innocent
Keep moving at all times — standing still makes you an easy target.
Don't group up too closely — stay near others for witnesses, but keep distance to avoid area kills.
Gather coins efficiently — memorize coin spawn layouts on each map to maximize XP safely.
Don't follow crowds; crowds lead to chaos.
Use audio cues — knife swings and kills have distinct sounds.
If someone gets too close, change direction immediately.
Watch for suspicious behavior, but don't jump to conclusions.
As the Sheriff
Hide your weapon early in the match — don't walk around with the gun drawn. Act like an Innocent.
Keep your distance from everyone — space gives reaction time to aim.
Bait wall campers — fake a push toward a corner, then back up quickly to force a peek.
Practice aim in open areas, not tight rooms.
Use third-person camera to peek around corners safely.
Never rush a shot; a wrong guess removes you from the round and gives the Murderer a free win.
Watch for players who follow others too closely.
As the Murderer
Blend in — act like an Innocent for the first minute to avoid suspicion.
Use map angles — avoid chasing in straight lines (easy target for Sheriff). Use hallways and tight corners instead.
Master the throw — aim where the player is moving, not where they currently stand.
Don't swing the knife too soon; wait for good moments.
Don't camp the dropped gun after a kill — experienced players will punish this.
Play slowly on unknown maps; let players move naturally and learn who you can catch.
Never kill someone while another player is directly watching.
Universal Tips
Memorize map layouts, hiding spots, vents, and long hallways.
Know which areas are dead ends so you don't trap yourself.
Turn on shift lock for better aim and movement.
Set graphics low on devices that lag.
Adjust sensitivity until aiming is comfortable.
Do not reveal the Murderer in chat — it ruins the round for everyone.
2. Maps & Map Knowledge
Map knowledge is considered one of the biggest skill advantages in MM2.
Best Maps for Coin Farming
Maps with wide open rooms, long hallways, easy loops, and good visibility are best for farming:
Factory — coins spawn in predictable areas, easy full routes
Mansion2 — classic favorite with reliable coin paths
Office3 — good loop-ability
Hotel2 — long-time farmer favorite
Small maps with tight rooms make farming slower because the Murderer finds people faster.
General Map Tips
Every map has "hot zones" where coins appear first — learn these to build efficient routes.
Track where the Sheriff typically stands on each map.
Use sound (knife swings, footsteps, kill sounds) to navigate danger without seeing the Murderer.
3. Coins & Farming Guide
Why Coins Matter
Coins are the core free-to-play currency in MM2. They are used for:
Opening weapon boxes (crates)
Buying visual effects
Acquiring pets
Event exchanges (seasonal tokens, candies, etc.)
Farming Methods That Work
Stay alive longer as Innocent — more survival time = more coin collection windows.
Move constantly — coins spawn in waves; keep circling known spawn areas.
Play on public servers — private servers do not spawn coins.
Learn your coin route — after a few rounds, you'll know exactly where to start on each map.
Farm during busy hours — more players = longer rounds = more coin collection time.
Play as Innocent — it is the most efficient role for pure coin farming.
Coin Farming Rates (Approximate)
~35–40 coins per round for consistent farmers (no gamepass)
~50 coins per round with Elite Gamepass
~400 coins in 10 rounds
~1,000 coins in ~25 rounds
What NOT to Do
AFK farming doesn't work — coins only spawn while moving, and AFK players are kicked.
Avoid glitches, exploits, or autoclickers — risk of account bans.
Don't open random crates immediately; save coins for crates with stable trade value.
Does Platform Matter?
PC: Fastest movement, best camera control, easiest to dodge Murderer.
Mobile: Slower turning and tighter navigation.
Console: Stable movement, decent for looping, slower camera.
Gamepasses for Coin Farming
Elite Gamepass: +10 coins per round; also gives exclusive perks. Useful but not required — free players can still farm very effectively with consistent play.
Trading Guide
1. Trading System
How Trading Works
Trading takes place inside dedicated trading servers.
Players swap knives, guns, pets, and item sets directly with other players.
MM2 has a massive, highly active trading economy centered on cosmetic weapon skins.
Always use the official in-game trade interface — never trade outside it.
Before Every Trade: Checklist
Know the value of all items involved.
Verify the items shown match what you expect (especially Chroma vs. non-Chroma).
No one is rushing or pressuring you.
The trade is happening fully inside the official menu.
You are not giving away your entire high-value stash.
You are okay with the trade even if values shift later.
How to Avoid Scams
Common scam types:
Duped item trick — item looks normal but has inflated supply; value drops fast.
Fake offer trick — promises items in chat but does not put them in the trade window.
Switcheroo trick — shows one item in chat, swaps to a weaker one in the actual trade window.
High demand hype — claims value is increasing tomorrow to pressure you into accepting.
Brand-new account trick — suspicious or fresh accounts offer deals that are too good to be true.
How to protect yourself:
Check a reliable community value list before trading.
Never feel rushed — if someone pushes you to accept immediately, it's a red flag.
Ask for screenshots or proof of similar past trades.
Always double-check the trade interface before clicking accept.
Avoid trading high-value items with brand-new or suspicious accounts.
Pause and trust your instincts — no item is worth being scammed over.
Smart Trading Habits
Decide whether you are trading for value, aesthetics, or collection — and be clear about it.
Aim for "value up" trades whenever possible.
Keep a few strong items as a reserve to maintain trading leverage.
Don't trade immediately after getting a new item; wait and see how the market moves.
Sort inventory into "trade soon" and "keep for now" groups.
Track value trends weekly — MM2's market shifts regularly.
Always cross-reference community value lists before finalizing any significant trade.
Weapons Guide
1. Weapon Rarities & Tiers
Rarity Tier Order (Low to High)
Common
Uncommon
Rare
Legendary
Godly ← most commonly traded premium tier
Ancient ← above Godly; usually event rewards or special releases
Unique ← admin-only items
What Is a Godly?
A Godly is a high-rarity weapon — not the rarest in the game, but one of the most valued and recognized for trading. Think of Godlies as "premium" weapons: rare, visually distinctive, and often worth significant trade value.
Godly Tier System (Tier 0–3)
Tier 0 — Low-tier Godlies; often crafted (e.g., Seers)
Crafting and seasonal events are the most reliable path to Godlies without depending on pure luck.
You follow a defined recipe or event path and know exactly what you're working toward.
Some of the game's strongest Godlies come from event systems.
Save materials even when you don't know what they're for — events often require them.
Holiday events (Christmas, Halloween) are especially good for Godly rewards.
Some recipes require smaller Godlies as components — gather those first.
Method 2: Trading (Most Consistent Long-Term)
The most consistent method used by experienced players.
Know which items are trending and which Godlies players actually want.
Trade items of similar value, then slowly climb to higher-value pieces.
Aim for small, steady upgrades rather than massive jumps.
Keep records (screenshots) of your trades to protect against scams.
If you can spot undervalued items, you can climb faster than average.
Method 3: Opening Crates (Bonus Method Only)
Godlies can drop from crates, but the odds are very low (often around 1 in hundreds).
Set a strict spending limit before opening crates.
Only open crates when you are okay with receiving Legendaries instead.
Treat unboxed Legendaries as future trading material.
Watch for special drop events that may slightly boost drop chances.
Don't rely on crates as a primary strategy.
Method 4: Plan Ahead ("Value Stacking")
Don't constantly chase whatever is currently trending.
Make a list: "items I want now" vs. "items I want later."
Learn which Godlies can be crafted, upgraded, or traded into other Godlies.
Stack value instead of spending every time you have an opportunity.
Focus resources on specific goals rather than random items.
Method 5: Stay Updated With Market Changes
The MM2 economy changes constantly — new Godlies arrive, old ones shift in value, and demand evolves every season.
Follow update news to know when new Godlies drop.
Watch community value lists for items becoming more valuable.
Trade quickly when you see demand rising.
Pick up undervalued items — they often recover or increase later.

Can you solve the Mystery and survive each round?
INNOCENTS: Run and hide from the Murderer. Use your detective skills to expose the Murderer.
SHERIFF: Work with the Innocents; you are the only one with a weapon who can take down the Murderer.
MURDERER: Eliminate EVERYONE. Don't get shot by the sheriff.
